What is address matching? Address matching means identifying different representations of an address. These addresses are in non standard formats. They may be present as loose unstructured strings where all aspects of an address like street name, house number, floor etc would be present within the same string. The addresses may be non standardised, having abbreviations like St for street. Linking different records having same address irrespective of their format is called address matching. These addresses may be present in multiple applications or source systems on in a single database or file. After address matching, if one maintains a single copy of the address and removes the duplicates, it is referred to as address deduplication.
When the address matching is done to identify different individuals sharing the same address, it is known as householding. Householding is a key tool for marketers to identify cross sell and upsell opportunities. Householding is also important for compliance and risk assessment.Tweet
